For Her

12/28/2020

Know not of the raging wildfires that engulf the earth in flames
When it comes to the planet we fall for politicians' games
The biggest lie we are ever told is that no individual action of ours could ever be bold
Bold enough to clean the oceans or reduce our fossil fuels
That standing up for what you believe in is not considered cool
Politicians use these lies in fear of one thing:
They are terrified of the change we will bring.
Every motion, every step
Every action that you take makes the idealism of money and corruption break
When we speak up and boycott big corporations, it will be our generation taking over the nation
If 10 years now is all we have left, we cannot let these lies get away with theft
Theft of our voice, our power, our change
The beauty of this world is not out of range
Stand up, speak up. You have a voice.
These big corporations are just the white noise
Every time you speak out a new flower of optimism begins to sprout
Plant a seed and watch it grow
Your passion will blossom more than you know
The change you make will soar for miles, and for all your frowns hold onto your smiles
There are people that will judge and people that will hate
But you know it is beauty that you will create.

I have always found that poetry has a special way of building a connection to the world around me, especially environmental poems. Here, I share my poetry about mother earth.
